February 2008

The Concert

Of course yesterday at work I became hovered over in pain with gas.  Not just lower, upper too.  My whole stomach was in pain.  Just what I needed before going to the concert.

We almost didn't go.  I was hurting so bad and looked 6 months pregnant.

But I decided that I wanted to live my life and dammit we were going.  So we did.

The drive wasn't too bad.  Finding a place to park though wasn't too much fun but we finally did.  And off to the Troc we walked.  In the freezing 25 degree weather.  I couldn't stop shivering.  That sucked.

Luckily it wasn't too too far.  But the place was packed to the hilt.  No place to put your coat so we wore them.  Had one beer.  Enjoyed the first act very much called the RX Bandits.  Only saw a few songs because we were late but they rocked.  I will have to get their cd.  Then the English Beat came on and played about 5 of my favorite songs!  I was thrilled.  But in so much frigin pain.  Didn't dance or anything.  It sucked.

If I was feeling better I would have been down in the front with the youngins and dancing.  I love the English Beat.  But after those 5 songs I told Hubz I was ready to leave.  I felt like shit.

So we left.

I am so good at ruining a good time.

A Date!

Hubz and I are going to the Trocodero tonight to see the English Beat.  I.  Can't.  Wait.

The kids are going to go to Gram's for a sleepover and they are going to take them to school tomorrow for me too!  Can't beat that!

So finally, Hubz and I have a date.  We haven't had a date in quite a while.  I am glad.

Stuck

I have officially been a vegan for a month now.  I have lost 8 lbs.  And only 8 lbs.

I am stuck.

I have reached a plateau that I can't seem to break.  I am sick that I read back in my archives that I was 12 lbs lighter this time last year.  Ewww.  What has happened to me?

It's so easy to gain, and so hard to lose.

I do enjoy this vegan way of eating.  I feel better.  I look better.  But I do miss cheese and fish.  For sure.  I miss regular pizza.  I like the tomato pie, don't get me wrong, but a regular pizza, was my favorite.

What to do?

Inspection

Well in our state we have to have our cars inspected once a year.  Now is the time for mine.

I have been driving our beater car around for the past two days.

I miss my Saab.  I didn't realize how much I love it til now.

Today we should find out if it needs anything besides the inspection.  Hope not.

Don't want a big bill.

I think the car is fine, but Hubz seems to think it may need brakes.

Shit.

My Weekend (Cliff Notes Version) 2/25

1) Friday was a snow day for us, which was nice.  The kiddos let me sleep until 10am!  Good kids.  They had a good time playing out in the snow, and of course I couldn't find Ben's gloves, so he was making snowballs with bare hands.  He didn't seem to care!  Pics are HERE.

2) Went grocery shopping with Ben.  Maddy was mad, but she doesn't like it when we ALL go, so just Ben it was.  He is an angel when we go, and good, stays right by me, doesn't ask for much.  We had a good time, and spent way too much money, as usual.

3) Made vegan Tomato Rice soup.  Turned out more like goulash than soup, but very very good.  Also made vegan Chocolate Banana muffins, awesome.  AND made the nastiest vegan Mac and Cheese I have ever tasted.  Eww eww eww.  It didn't even smell good.  I got the recipe out of some booklet I got in the mail.  OH and I made tofu chocolate pudding too, that was good.  I was a busy bee in the kitchen this weekend.

4) We put a new water heater in this weekend.  Ours has been broken and leaking all over the basement for a few weeks now.  A friend of ours put it in for us which saved us $250.00 in installation fees from Home Depot.  The water is so hot now, it's crazy.  Hubz needs to turn it down another notch I think.  Our old water heater was 20 years old, so we got good use out of it.

5) Went to yoga.  It was good.  But the owner of the studio was there in my class and I think that made my teacher a bit flustered.  I felt so bad for him.  He seemed so nervous.  But the class rocked, and I am sure that the owner was pleased.

It was a very busy weekend I must say.  But a good weekend.  Flew by though.  I hate when that happens.

Archives

Do you ever go back into your archives and read the posts?  I was doing that yesterday and found it quite interesting.

I was 12 lbs lighter this time last year. (Make me puke, damn you Atkins, for making me lose weight then gain it back and then some)

We bought our out back patio set and fire pit this time last year. (And I still am in love with it)

Benny's teacher was a bitch to me when I waved hi to her. (She just ignored me even though I know she saw me.  I didn't really like her anyway.  Apparently Maddy told me that Benny cried every day at school that year.)

Came to the conclusion that Benny has Asperger's Syndrome.  (Or does he, I don't really know)

Booked our Jamaica trip. (And I want to go back so badly)

Got my Saab convertible. (And still love it, even though I have a whole new strange attitude about driving now, which is a whole other post)

Told the kids they were switching schools.  (And I am so glad they did)

Had a snow day off.  (Want another one)

My Dell laptop died.  (And I want a new one)

Got my ring reset. (I am still in love with it)

Started knitting.  (All I knit is scarves LOL)

Benny lost his first tooth.  (So cute)

Benny grabbed his teacher's boobs.  (Now THAT was funny!)

Teeth

100_0121

Here is toothless.

He lost his tooth at school and doesn't want me to write the Tooth Fairy a note for him.

He doesn't want the Tooth Fairy to come.

He doesn't want any money.

Strange.

(He is getting it anyway)

My New Camera

The tax return money came on Friday so the kids and I went to Target to do some shopping.  I told them that the first thing we were going to look for was my new camera, then we could look at the toys.  They were very very good for me.

Well what did I get?  I got THIS

It rocks.  There are so many stinking features that I have to really get some time to play with it, but on regular mode, it takes a great shot!  So clear.  So much better than my other camera.  All of the birthday pics were taken with the new camera.  Wow and wow.  And I just love the look of it too.  So professional.  Tee hee, as I giggle with glee!

Now that I have the new camera, I may start re-participating in Self Portrait Challenge.  I always enjoyed it, taking pics and photoshopping them into something really cool.  Hmmm.  What do ya think?

My Weekend (Cliff Notes Version)

1) Maddy had her birthday party this Saturday at the roller rink.  PIctures are HERE.  We only had 13 kids show up, which is fine, because that means cheaper for me!  It was a huge success, and they all loved it.  They skated, got fed, skated some more.  I was very pleased.  I skated too but only 2 times around.  That was about all my legs could take.  I am so weak.

2) Saturday night dinner was Portobello Mushroom Bake and Roasted Garlic Asparagus.  Excellent.  I think just a smidge too many onions in the bake (I'm not a big onion fan), but it was good for texture, put it over rice and Voila!  Hubz liked it too.  Will he go vegan?  No frigin way.  Just me.

3) Yesterday I went to yoga, and was pleased to be laying there in Shivasana and the teacher came up to me and said, "Good Morning" and fixed my blankets for me.  Not one adjustment during class.  I must be doing pretty good.  Wish I could teach like that.  He is great at explaining things and not bad to look at either!  I am looking into maybe teaching children's yoga.  There is a class coming up in September close to me rather than trekking out to New York and having to pay for hotels and such.  I may go.

4) Then off to the wine store.  We haven't had wine around in quite some time, so of course here I am, looking everywhere in the store for some kind of organic wine.  None to be found.  So I got some Barefoot Pino Grigio and Chardonnay, Beringer White Zinfandel, and one of our favorites Lambrusco.  The line was so long, and the store had just opened.  The cashier was a bitch on wheels the way she was treating everyone.  I guess she didn't want to be working on a Sunday.  Oh well.

5) I baked vegan Oatmeal Peanut Butter cookies yesterday afternoon.  I got the recipe from Post Punk Kitchen.  They are awesome, the kids even like them!

6) Took a nap, made dinner, and just chilled for the rest of the night.  In bed by 8:30.  I really am wondering if I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or something, because by 7:30 I am yawning.  I need to do some checking up on it.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Happy 10th Birthday MJ!

I love you with all that I am!
