Being a supermom isn't always the easiest thing in the world. Let's face it - I don't really see myself as a supermom anymore than you probably see yourself as a supermom or superdad. My job, as I see it, is to give it my best effort. And sometimes that gives me supermom status, while other times it....well....lands me feeling like loser mom. But, I'm always trying.
Here's my tip of the day. Make those school lunches at night and do it together with the kids. There is nothing worse (well, ok - there are worse things) than having a chaotic morning of throwing lunches together. Even worse is doing so while fighting with your child about the peanut butter and jelly sandwich that she doesn't want.
I've learned through much trial and error to make lunches at night with the kids. This way, each child can voice an opinion about what she wants for the next day and we can put it all together. In the morning, it's time to grab the lunches and head out the door. Now, the skeptic will say that they still have room to complain in the morning about what was packed last night. Yes, indeed. But the rule in our house is that they live with whatever they chose to pack at night - no complaints. And I remind them that they chose it - so how can they complain about it?
Is it a perfect plan? Nope - but it's certainly better than the alternative! Happy lunch making!
